The United Effort Organization Receives $25,000 Grant from Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation

Mountain View, CA – May 21, 2026 – The United Effort Organization, Inc. (UEO) has been awarded a $25,000 “Live Where You Work” Challenge Grant from the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF) to launch a new housing initiative connecting unhoused essential workers and seniors with local homeowners who have available space.

This pilot program will help match local workers and long-time residents to affordable housing options such as ADUs, spare rooms, cottages, and small rental units in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, and Mountain View. UEO will also provide housing navigation, tenant support, and homeowner coordination to help create stable housing opportunities.

“With housing costs continuing to rise across Silicon Valley, we are increasingly seeing working individuals and seniors priced out of the communities where they work and have built their lives,” said Wei E, Executive Director of UEO. “This initiative creates practical, community-based housing opportunities by activating space that already exists.”

The challenge grant was created by the foundation to encourage innovative local solutions that help essential workers and long-time residents remain in the communities they serve.

“The people who teach our kids, care for our parents, and keep our communities running should be able to live here,” said Crysta Krames, Chief Executive Officer of LAMVCF. “We believe local partnerships and community-driven ideas can help make that possible.”

Since its founding in 2020, UEO has assisted over 2,100 individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including employed residents and seniors living on fixed incomes.

UEO co-founders Claire Hubel and Wei E were also recently featured by CBS News Bay Area KPIX and recognized with the ICON Award for community service.
