Building Confidence and Careers Through Employment Support

At The United Effort Organization (UEO), our Employment Support Program guides and coaches clients through every stage of the employment journey. Led by our employment specialist, Tiffany, support includes resume development and editing, job searches and applications, interview preparation, access to technology, financial assistance to overcome employment barriers, and help with job retention.

Tiffany, with help from our Client Managers, meets regularly with clients to celebrate their accomplishments, assess progress, and work toward their goals. Along the way, we strive to be mentors, cheerleaders, and trusted confidants, accompanying each person as they take steps toward employment and greater self-sufficiency.

To date (October, 2026), we have worked directly with 85 clients. Of these, 24 have secured employment and seven have pursued entrepreneurial opportunities. Others have made progress toward their individual career goals. But the program’s impact goes beyond these numbers. We also see growth in clients’ motivation, confidence, independence, and interpersonal skills.

A key part of our approach is helping clients set small, achievable goals that build toward larger milestones. Breaking the employment journey into manageable steps makes progress feel more tangible and attainable. Each accomplishment builds confidence and self-esteem, helping clients maintain their motivation and tackle the next challenge.

We are proud of what our participants have achieved, while recognizing that the path to employment is not always straightforward. Housing insecurity and the stress and instability it creates can make it difficult to stay connected and consistently follow through on employment goals. Mental health challenges and substance use can add further barriers.

To help clients navigate these challenges, we offer multiple ways to stay connected, including in-person meetings, phone calls, texts, emails, and video conference calls. Tiffany, our Employment Support Specialist also makes ongoing efforts to reconnect with clients who have lost contact, offering reminders of their progress and helping them identify their next steps.

We are also using a new biweekly employment support newsletter to celebrate participants’ successes and share current job opportunities. By highlighting progress and making opportunities more visible, we hope to inspire clients to learn from one another, regain momentum, and take their next steps toward employment and a more secure future.

Every step forward matters. At UEO, we celebrate not only the jobs secured, but also the confidence, skills, and resilience clients build along the way.
